Kindergarten Sports Day was held on 04.02.2017 Chief Guest Smt. Namrutha, Chinmaya Mission Chennai declared the sport meet open. The Tiny Tots performed the colourful mass drill was cynosure to all the audience.
The Students and their parents actively took part in the various events and the prize winners were proud to receive the prizes from the chief guest Smt. Namrutha. Anjana from UKG was given endowment prize instituted by Dr. A. Anantharamakrishnan in memory of Meenakshi Aiyakutty for her outstanding achievements in the field of chess youngest player award (18th Tamil Nadu State Level Interschool & College Chess Tournament)

Kindergarten Project day was held on 27th January 2017 at Chinmaya Vidyalaya Annanagar. This educational program helped children to explore different aspects like health and hygiene, Colours, Guru parampara, Temples god and goddesses, religious festivals, countries, indoor and outdoor activities, emotions, Science and Inventions, Why do we , social festivals & Indian states. Each class has been given a particular topic in which the Students showcased their talents in Science, Mathematics, English, Music and Dance. Puppet shows was the highlights of the project. Interactive methods let the young ones engage themselves actively Principal Mrs. V Gowrilakshmi appreciated the the efforts of the students and teachers in making the project day a grand success.

Dear Gowri Maam,
I was really overwhelmed by the efforts and show put up by the children of kinder garden for the project day yesterday. My son G. Rithul in UKG-A had his topic as Outdoor and Indoor activities. His activity was Gardening - From the desk of Landscape Architect Premdas Krishna. It was such a creative and innovative way to show how day to day activities can turn into a passion and later into a profession.
Generally only in schools abroad people from different professions come and interact in class to inspire children. But here the children dressed and talking about different personalities with their models was a true delight. It was a great aspiration for young minds.Kudos! to the class teacher Sangeetha Miss for such a wonderful thought and show.
Rithul soon after show got a gardening set and sapling to plant saying he is going to make a real big garden. I thank the teacher and school for providing this lovely platform.
I further shared a few photos of the display with Landscape Architect Premdas Krishna on FB and his reply was so encouraging for my little one. The screenshots are below;

The students of I & II visited the ICF Rail Museum on 2nd February 2017, accompanied by the class teachers
1. The Students were very excited for the ride in the toy train.
2. There were different models of trains exhibited and they were also allowed to observe the interior of the exhibits.
3. An official from the Railway Department explained the working process of the signals.
4. The Students watched the documentary on the evolution of the Railway System in India
5. Bullet Train was the highlight of the show.
6.The museum was indeed an informative source to make the kids understand the locomotion of trains.

JEEVOTSAV 2016 (Bio-Fest) exclusive Bio meet for all cluster school was held on 14.10.2016.
Students from 18 different schools participated in this events.
Dr.Karunagaran IIT Professor and HOD from IIT Madras spoke on carrier guidance options in the field of Biology, he also gave a brief lecture on cancer Biology.
IIT research students conducted Quiz competition for all the Quiz participants.
The prize winners are as follows SBOA - I Prize, Chennai Public School - II Prize and Bhavan's Rajaji Vidyashram - III Prize.
Dr.Gugan Jayaraman Professor IIT Madras-Biotechnology Dept gave an overview of Recombinant technology which was very informative to all the students.
Students from 6 cluster school participated in PPT - Presentation competition on the topic “Remarkable trends in the fields of Biology in recent years”.
In which Chinmaya Vidyalaya Virugambakkam has placed first Position followed by Bhavan's Rajaji Vidyashram.
Over all, the programme was very informative to all the students and were motivated to learn the subject.
They were more enthusiastic to learn more about the subjects from different branches of Biology.

Space week celebrations were conducted in our Vidyalaya in the first week of October.
The following activities were conducted for the students:
A. Colouring and painting competition on the theme Remote Sensing for classes I to VIII
B. Talk on eminent astronauts in the morning assembly by students of Std IV.
C. Book review of science fiction was read out by students of std IX and Std X.
D. Visit to the planetarium by students of Std VI & VII.
E. Google Earth – Web site created for the space week celebration was viewed by students of Std V. they learnt the techniques of how to Google the earth

National Level Painting CompetitionNational Level Painting Competition CHINMAYA VIDYALAYA, ANNA NAGAR, CHENNAI - 40
Pooja shree of Std IX has secured II Prize and won Rs.15000/- as a cash awards in state level drawing competition organized by Power Grid Corporation Ministry of power Government of India. Schools from all over Tamil Nadu participated (All boards) in this competition and she is selected for National level competition, which will be held on 25th November.Â

Geeta MahotsavGeeta MahotsavAs the final event of Chinmaya Birth Centenary Celebrations Chinmaya Vidyalaya is organizing a 'first of its kind' carnival on the Bhagavad Geeta. Named the 'Geeta Mahotsav', it is an audio, visual, art, interactive, experiential exhibition, happening between the 11th & 15th August 2016 at YMCA grounds, Royapettah, Chennai. All are welcome.

Interschool Cultural Interschool Cultural The first day saw the inauguration of Chinmayam with our Chinmaya Misssion Acharya, H.H. Swami Mitranandaji, Vijay Yesudas, Shweta Mohan (play back singers) and Janaki Sabesh (actress) as the guests of honour. Following the inauguration ceremony marked the commencement of the events. Janaki Sabesh gave all those present an inspirational message to never say no to an opportunity along with her experiences with eminent personalities from the film industry. Shweta Mohan then cast an euphoric spell on the audience with renditions of some of her songs. The whole venue was abuzz with the arrival of arrival of Vijay Yesudas who charmed the audience with a soulful rendition of his hit number 'malare' amongst others. The two of them then joined their voices in harmony for an amazing duet performance. After these lively performances, the guests were felicitated and proceeded to take their seats amongst the audience.
The much awaited host show then took place with students from the host school, Chinmaya Vidyalaya, Anna Nagar putting on singing and classical dance performances. The end of the host show marked the beginning of the events scheduled to take place over the three days.
The second day was choc a bloc with events like adzap, shipwreck, adapt tune and dance to name a few and was a treat to the senses for the audience. The events were judged by various people with a wide array of talents as well as members from the Chinmaya family, they helped put the participants at ease and calmed their nerves which helped the contestants put in their best efforts, which made all the events highly enjoyable and enlivening for both the audience and the participants.
After completion of the events that were to take part on the third and last day, the valedictory function took place with Navin Iyer as the chief guest, Rahul Nambiar and Ranjit Govind as the guests of honour. After electrifying performances by Rahul Nambiar and Ranjith Govind the much awaited prize distribution ceremony took place with the winners seeing their efforts come to fruition. For the 6-8th category Chinmaya Vidyalaya Taylors Road bagged the rolling trophy. The three day extravaganza saw the host school, Chinmaya Vidyalaya Anna Nagar taking home the rolling trophy for both the 9-10th and 11-12th categories along with the title of Mr. Chinmayam.
A unique addition by the student organizers was the introduction of QR codes on the identity cards. This showed the technological process of the students. They took great efforts to design and print all the invitations, certificates as well as the QR coded identity cards for teacher volunteers, student volunteers and participants. Their blood, sweat and tears with their mammoth efforts successfully made Chinmayam a great success with all the 31 events proceeding in an orderly manner. The culturals ended on a patriotic note with the national anthem.

Rally organised by the Corporation of Chennai Rally organised by the Corporation of ChennaiThe students of Chinmaya Vidyalaya, Annanagar took part in the rally organised by the Corporation of Chennai on 25.01.2016. To emphasise the importance of casting vote. Students of class VIII participated enthusiastically in the rally carrying placards, signifying the importance of democracy and raising slogans which would motivate the public to exercise their rights. The rally was a great success and was appreciated by one and all. In turn Students also came to know about their voting rights and promised to become a responsible Citizen of the future.

2. Questionnaire sent by link school - " Arusha City Boy's Secondary school"- Tanzania. Students visiting super markets to distribute questionnaire to shop keeper and customers on consumer rights.
3. An analysis based on the survey:
• Consumer rights are the rights that a person has when he/she has paid for an goods or services .
• Most consumers may not be able to read the instructions, but can read the consumer care number and call up the number to register a complaint. They can take the assistance of different NGOs engaged in consumer protection activities.
• Consumers have the right to be protected against products, production processes and services which are hazardous to health or life.
• Consumer has the right to be heard, right to choose , right to satisfy basic needs, right to access to basic essential goods and services.

Krishna Jayanthi Krishna JayanthiKrishna Jayanthi was celebrated on 04.09.2015. The programme commenced with an invocation song. Pooja was performed with great reverence to god. Students of class II recited krishnaashtakam with veneration. Bhajans in praise of lord Krishna were sung by the students of class VI.
There was a cultural show presented by the students of primary school . They enacted a skit depicting the birth and childhood phase of Lord Krishna. They also performed a mesmerizing dance which depicted childhood pranks / leelas of Lord Krishna.

Vinayaka Chathurti celebrations Vinayaka Chathurti celebrationsVinayaka Chathurti celebrations was celebrated on 09.09.2015 in an atmosphere of intense devotional fervor at Chinmaya Vidyalaya,Anna Nagar . A decorated idol of Ganesha was carried in a procession around the school.
The programme started with an invocation song dedicated to Lord Vinayaka. This was followed by the recital of Vinayaka Asthothram by the students.
Then the students performed the Ganesha Pooja, guided by Mr.Kannan,Sanskrit teacher. They chanted Om Ganeshaaya Namaha. After this the students sang some melodious bhajans on Lord Ganesha .

GURU ARADHANA DAY EXHIBITION GURU ARADHANA DAY EXHIBITION"Some are born in the world to create their own intense signature". So was H.H.Swami Chinmayananda. Our Salutations and Honour to him.
On Guru Aradhana day in Chinmaya Birth Centenary year, the momentous day was well organized to a phenomenal standard. On account of this auspicious "Guru Aradhana day" our school had meticulously organized an exhibition titled "Guru Marg", which was inaugurated by Mrs.Gita Menon, Director ,Chinmaya Academy of Management, Vice President, Chinmaya Mission, Chennai, Trustee CCMT.
Classes from LKG to Class XII displayed the life events of our Gurudev H.H. Swami Chinmyananda and the activities of Chinmaya Mission. The exhibition was a remarkable revelation of our Gurudev's vision. Guru Parampara, Wings of Chinmaya Mission, Glimpses of Gita, Chinmaya Vission Program, Why do we?.... and The history of GurudevÂ’s life and mission were well manifested by the students and teachers. A lot of extensive research was done by them. The parents and guest's were enthralled by the displays, explanation and plays put up by the students about our Gurudev and his vision.
Mass chanting of 15th chapter was done by all the students and teachers with lot of devotion.
To top it all H.H Swami Mitrananda, gloriously led the Guru Paduka Procession, which was humbly carried by our SPL Venkatesh. The students ushered in the holy atmosphere by bringing flowers and offering to the paduka of our Guru Dev.
Then the message was read by our principal Mrs.Gowrilakshmi on "World Peace" encouraged the listeners to embrace peace and harmony.
It was indeed a blessed ending when the teachers concluded the chanting of 18 chapters of Bhagavad Gita which had commenced a week ago. The Gita Aarthi was performed at the end with a lot of reverence.

WORLD POPULATION DAY ON 20.07.2015 WORLD POPULATION DAY ON 20.07.2015On the Blissful moming of 20.07.2015 the world population day was celebrated in the premise of Chinmaya Vidyalya, Anna Nagar.
The eventful day was started with the nussagefilled drama potraided by the students of class XI on the increase in world population and its consequences. The shong message was not just informative but also thoughtful towards the betterment of human beings and environment. The schools initiative to spread the knowledge to the students about this alarming danger was recognised by one and all. The drama portrayed the aspects of poverty and its effects along with scarcity of water, food and other basic necessity for human beings.
The success of this programme was for seen in the students face and with a hope for a better future the day ended.
The world population day program was observed by students from foreign countries like Ukraine, Egypt, Italy, China, Kenya, etc and was well received by them.
GURUJI'S BIRTHDAY AND ADULT LITERARY PROGRAMME GURUJI'S BIRTHDAY AND ADULT LITERARY PROGRAMMEA recapture on the life history of our Guruji Tejomayananda by our beloved Principal Mrs.Gowrilakshmi was refreshing for the students. On the auspicious day of our Guruji’s birthday there was a delightful roar of birthday wishes. Our Guruji's composition “Janmadinamitham” was rendered by the entire school for him. The divine bhajans were rendered by the senior students. The little ones also sang and praised in a joyfull tone.
On behalf of this quaint essential day, the high school students demonstrated the core elements of our prestigious school, the golden CVP's. The significance of intellectual, physical, mental, social and cultural development was enacted by our students and it was a very enriching experience for them. This indeed was a great revelation to all those who were present there. An infinite unfolding of information and knowledge, remarkably marked the glorious celebration of our great guruji's birthday.
The adult literary programme was inaugurated on the same day of our Guruji's birthday. The attempt to provide the basic education to the women of Gandhi Nagar and Ambedhkar Nagar by the scouts, guides and seva students were highly commendable. The education will be provided by our students for 30 weeks. Dr.Badrinath, the Chief Guest of the day inaugurated this phenomenal movement which will aim at bringing in the literacy scale to greater heights, which will also bring in seva attitude among the children. On account of Guruji's birthday students from all the classes and seva students generously contributed stationary items. Atlas , Diet , Story book, school bags, Laboratory items etc, to HariHara Vidyalaya – Tamaraipakkam. Unto him ,Our Best on the day of Guruji’s Birthday.

INVESTITURE CEREMONY AND CCA INAUGRATION (2015-16) INVESTITURE CEREMONY AND CCA INAUGRATION (2015-16)The auspicious morning of 20th June 2015 witnessed the grand investiture ceremony and inauguration of CCA in the premises of Chinmaya Vidyalaya, Anna Nagar School in which the capable and the most deserving students of classes XI and XII were selected for the student council.
The occasion was graced by Dr. Anburathinavel, Mechanical Engineer – Dean, Financial Academy, Scope International. A fragrant floral welcome was presented to the Chief Guest who was accompanied by the school Principal and Vice Principal, Mrs.V.Gowrilakshmi and Mrs.D.Lakshmiprabha respectively. The programme commenced by lighting of the Lamp. After the Inauguration, the students selected for the council took the oath and were honoured with their respective badges.
The newly appointed leaders promised to serve the school and its students with diligence and dedication and bear the responsibility to uphold the name and reputation of the school. The newly appointed SPL (School Pupil Leader) delivered the acceptance speech.
The leaders assured to live up to the expectations of one and all and would work zestfully towards the growth of the institution. The programme culminated with fusion music by the students of Class XI.
Report Of The International Yoga Day Celebrations Report Of The International Yoga Day CelebrationsA splendid resolution adopted by the United Nation General Assembly came into execution on 21st June 2015 as the International Yoga Day, recognizing the ancient Indian Science's holistic approach to health and well being.
CVA is proud to announce that Yoga Day was performed enthusiastically in three different places. Students of Std VI and the staff of our Vidyalaya performed yogasanas in the school premises. Our Principal Mrs. V. Gowrilakshmi addressed the gathering. She emphasized on the importance of practicing yoga. She also advised the students and teachers to practice yoga regularly to lead a hale and healthy life. Asanas were demonstrated on the stage. The students of Class VI and the faculty performed yoga for 35 minutes.
At the Marina beach our Vidyalaya students and a few parents performed yoga with vibrancy and enthusiasm. The most awaited day began with a mass yoga demonstration by our yoga teacher Mrs. Pabitra. The inner truth that yoga is to explore a sense of oneness with nature was unfolded.
Our school NCC Cadets enthusiastically participated in the International Yoga Day at AM Jain College, Meenambakkam along with their ANO, Mr. S. Kannan (Sanskrit Teacher). Almost 3000 cadets from Chennai participated in this great event. The slogan 'Bharat Mata Ki Jai' and The National Anthem spread a sense of patriotism among the participants.

Our Vidyalaya Senior most teachers Mrs.Padma Madhavan and Mrs.Shanthi Ramamurthy who has served the institution for a big span of years has been recognized for their service. Teachers from all Vidyalaya's who have put in 10 years and 25 years of service received the mementoes from the Chairman for their long noble service in the field of education. Jyothi Yatra on account of Chinmaya Birth Centenary Celebrations Jyothi Yatra on account of Chinmaya Birth Centenary CelebrationsThe most awaited celebration of receiving Chinmaya Sandesh Vahini and Jyothi Yatra in connection with Chinmaya Birth Centenary Celebration commenced in a grand manner on 16.06.2015 in our Vidyalaya.
If was a rhapsodic moment for the 108 students of our Vidyalaya who swiftly rolled on their cycles with immense pride in their hearts,saffron flags fluttering in the wind, led by our dynamic and ever youthful Acharya H.H. Swami Mitrananda. Shri. Santhosh of Chinmaya Mission carried the Padukas with lot of reverence along with Swamiji. When they reached the school, the children were enthralled to see Swamiji riding the cycle. The sound of music of the vibrant band and chenda reverberated in the school. and joy spread to all those present in the Vidyalaya. The padukas and vastra were received with Poorna Kumbham with great spiritual fervour and faith. School flag was hoisted and Vidyalaya song was sung. Ashtothra Pooja was performed by our Sanskrit Department to the Paduka and Vastra of Gurudev. All the students Offered flowers to the Jyothi and Padukas. Swami Mitranandaji and Shri. Santhosh enjoyed the moment when the tiny tots of Kindergarten released 108 saffron colour balloons to show their devotion and love towards Gurudev.
The life history and the significant series of events of our Gurudev were well manifested in the Jyothi Yatra Vehicle. The students walked out with a feeling of awe and were inspired to follow Gurudev's footprints.
The Yagnatorium was set up at our Vidyalaya which was visited by the students of Class VI.
This momentous occasion concluded with the Chinmaya aarthi. Indeed this day will forever be etched in the hearts and minds of the Chinmayans of Anna Nagar.

After the Ashthotram archana, Lingasthagam and Margabandhu sthotram were chanted with devotion which brought about a positive vibration in the Vidyalaya campus. Kindergarten Sports Day 07.02.2015Kindergarten Sports Day 07.02.2015The Kindergarten Department of the Vidyalaya celebrated its Sports Day on 07.02.2015 (Saturday) and the Chief Guest was Smt.Geeta Menon, Trustee - MCST, Director - Chinmaya Academy of Management, Vice President –Chinmaya Mission . The Chief Guest took the salute at the march past performed by the students of LKG. After the lightening of the Olympiad torch by the Chief Guest , the flag bearer took the oath to play the games in a fair manner and respect the rules of the game . After declaring the sports meet open the Correspondent and the Chief Guest addressed the gathering of parents, students and teachers.
The Chief Guest and other dignitaries distributed the prizes to the students. There was a colourful mass drill by 160 students of Kindergarten which was much applauded. Apart from this there was couple of sports events for the students.
The sports Day Flag was folded and returned to the P.T.Sir. A UKG student proposed the vote of thanks. The programme concluded with the singing of the National Anthem.

Shri.P.V.Ramaswamy, excutive producer of Gurudev's biopic "On A Quest" was the Chief Guest for this function. After the unfurling of the National Tricolour Flag by the Chief Guest a well disciplined parade was performed by our senior students. Then Students from Std I to III were encouraged with Awards for their sports activities .Later a cultural programme with two patriotic songs and a classical dance created a vibration of patriotism among the audience. Chinmaya Vidyalaya , Anna Nagar feels proud to notify that this movie “On a Quest” was directed by their alumnus R.S.Prasanna and four more of their aumini, Jithin Thorai , Malavika, Rohini Manohar and Yeshaswini were an integral part of this movie. Apart from this, many students, parents and teachers of Chinmaya Vidyalaya, Anna Nagar also got an opportunity to act in this movie. The movie with its scintillating background score amazing photography, thematic songs and powerful script was an eye – opener to all, about the transformation of an atheist to a spiritual Guru who spearheaded the Chinmaya Movement.

Connecting Classroom By British CouncilConnecting Classroom By British CouncilChinmaya Vidyalaya has taken up another project named "connecting classroom" by the British Council after receiving the covetous ISA Award 2013 - 2016. Through this project Chinmaya Vidyalaya,Anna Nagar has set up collaboration curriculum projects with its partner school HUNGER HILLS SCHOOL in DON CASTER ,UK. In connection with this project teachers from the partner schools Mr.David Parry and Ms.Nicola paid a visit to Chinmaya Vidyalaya, Anna Nagar to gain a better understanding of Chinmaya Vidyalaya and its curriculum. They also understood a lot more about our rich heritage and culture. This project will give students a chance to collaborate with their international peers on curriculum based activities. It will also help educators to share their best teaching practices with teachers of the other school and imbibe innovative ideas from the education system in the partner school and vice versa.

It had its humble beginning in 1989 under the able guidance of His Holiness Swami Chinmayananda with 11 students and 4 faculty members. Since then many lamps have been lit and many hearts have been kindled ...
To commemorate the 25th year celebration of our institution, a grand function was organized on 02nd January 2015 at Chinmaya Heritage Centre. We are blessed to have our Guruji. H.H.Swami Tejomayanandaji, H.H.Swamini Vimalanandaji and H.H.Swami. Mitranandaji for this function.
The programme began with an invocation song and it was followed by "Abinandana Malika" in Sanskrit to our Pujya Guruji written by our Sanskrit teacher Mr.S.Kannan and tuned by our Music Teacher Mr.Bhuvaneshwar. The Correspondent Shri.R.Suryakumar welcomed the audience. There was a video presentation highlighting the achievements and activities of the Vidyalaya. After this the auspicious lamp was lit by the Acharyas.
Then H.H.Swami Tejomayandaji released the Silver Jubilee School Souvenir and the copies were handed over to our Chairman Shri.S.P.Thyagarajan and Shri.O.V.Nambiar, Member ,CCMT education cell. It is a moment of pride and honour for our school as our Guruji released a book "Conquest - Danger redefined" authored by our 11th standard student a Dhaya.
H.H.Swamini Vimalanandaji in her keynote address spoke about the lead of the Vidyalaya in Chinmaya Vision Program, "Seva Project" and "Action Research Projects". H.H.Swami Mithranandaji on his felicitation speech spoke about his longtime association with the Chinmaya Vidyalaya, Anna Nagar, right from the inception. He was also happy to mention that Vidyalaya always took part in mission activities. Present & former students and the staff have worked closely with him on many major projects like Family Quiz, Speak Sanskrit through Cricket, Cool Camp etc., and in the recent production 'On A Quest' .
H.H.Swami Tejomayanandaji , in the presidential address appreciated the efforts of the teaching staff for taking the education movement to greater heights and also appreciated the students for their National and International Level achievements.
On this occasion the school choir, which has won many accolades at the regional level entertained the audience with their soul stirring bhajans. This was much appreciated by our Guruji.
After this the teachers of Chinmaya Vidyalaya including the office staff who had rendered 20, 15 and 10 years' service were honoured by Acharyas.
Then the teachers with 5 years' service, the newcomers were all honoured by Shri.O.V.Nambiar, Executive Committee Member CCMT Education Cell. The Best Student Award was given to all the deserving students from Kindergarten to Standard XII.
The Principal thanked the gathering of students, parents and teachers for making the programme a grand success. The programme concluded with the singing of the National Anthem by the school choir.

Silver Jubilee Annual Day celebration - 03.11.2014Silver Jubilee Annual Day celebration - 03.11.2014It is a very proud moment for Chinmaya Vidyalaya, Anna Nagar to celebrate its Silver Jubilee Annual Day Celebration on 03.11.2014 at Kamaraj Arangam, Teynampet. The function began with the arrival of the Chief Guest - The Governor, His Excellency Dr.K.Rosiah at the Venue. After the lightning of the auspicious lamp, followed by the song (Tamil Thai Vazhthu) Shri.R.Suryakumar, Correspondent welcomed the gathering.
Then His Excellency Dr.K.Rosiah released the Bhajan CD of Chinmaya Vidyalaya, Anna Nagar. In his address to the audience Dr.K.Rosiah spoke about the importance of education, values and requested the parents and teachers to be the role model for the students. Shri.D.T.Sudharsan Rao also gave an inspiring speech to the audience. Our Chairman Prof.Shri.S.P.Thyagarajan in his key note address highlighted the achievement of the Vidyalaya. Principal Mrs.V.Gowrilakshmi, Vice Principal Mrs.D.Lakshmi Prabha , and few senior teachers received the Award for their selfless services from His Excellency, The Governor.
The cultural programme commenced with an invocation song dedicated to lord ganesha. Then the Silver Jubilee song was performed. Then there was a colourful display of costumes and dances of the four southern states of India by the Kindergarten children. The theme was "Culture".
This was followed by a patriotic programme by the classes 1st and 2nd , which gave a strong , message to nurture and cherish the motherland. They were colourful and vibrant on the stage. This programme also showcased the achievements of important Indians to the country (India).
Then there was a programme by the classes 3rd , 4th and 5th with the physical development as the theme. The programme consisted of a ball dance , hoop dance and an aerobics dance which emphasized fitness well being as theme. There was a clourful dance which gave importance to the diet of fruits and vegetables for good health.
The yoga programme by the primary students stole the show by displaying many yogasanas. All the young participants received a thunderous applause.
Classes 6th 7th and 8th with the theme spiritual development enacted the play on Kannappa Nayar was the epitome of devotion to the Lord Shiva. Then there was a play on "Bhakta Prahalad" which the students acted with great emotion. The stage reverberated with devotion as Lord Narasimha appeared on the stage and vanquished Hiranyakashibu. This was followed by a dance of the Gopis around "Balakrishna" with the music describing the physical attributes of the Lord. The programme was much appreciated by the audience. It was continued with a Navarasa dance by the high school students displaying the various attribute mood swings of human beings.
Students of class 9 and 10 enacted a skit on the life history of Pujya Gurudev Swami Chinmayananda. Then our senior students with the theme Universal Outlook performed a dance on peace, environment and specially the mime dance which was performed by them has stolen the hearts of the audience. The Principal gave the vote of thanks. The Silver jubilee Programme was attended in full strength by parents, teachers, students and alumni of the Vidyalaya.

REPORT ON QUANTUM MEETREPORT ON QUANTUM MEETChinmaya Vidyalaya Anna Nagar conducted Physics Quantum meet on 4th of September 2014. The objective of this meet was to motivate the students to take Physics as a career. Students from 15 city schools participated in this meet
The Resource person was Prof. Vijayan from IIT Madras. A Quiz programme was conducted by Research scholars of IIT Madras, Dr.T S Natarajan Professor Department of Physics explained the concepts of Physics through Experiments.
The programme was highly appreciated by other school children. The programme was very useful and Informative.
Re - Union of retired TeachersRe - Union of retired TeachersThe Board of Management of Chinmaya Vidyalaya, Chennai organized a Retired Staff get - together for all the retired teachers of the Chinmaya Vidyalayas, Chennai on 13th September 2014, Saturday at Chinmaya Vidyalaya, Anna Nagar, Swami H.H.Mitrananda - Acharya , Chinmaya Mission addressed the gathering . The other dignitaries of the Board of Management present were Shri.O.V.Nambiar, Shri. Raj Kumar Devaraj, Mr.R.Surya Kumar, Smt..Gita Menon, The Principals of the Three Vidyalaya's .
Nearly 20 teachers from all the three Vidyalayas attended the meeting . The main points discussed were requesting the retired teachers to act as effective resource person to guide the upcoming Vidyalayas in Chennai like Avadi, Tamaraipakkam, Sri City etc. It was felt that by helping the Vidyalaya family they would be able to get a sense of self satisfaction.
They would help the Vidyalayas like Sri City , Avadi & Tamaraipakkam Vidyalayas to grow and be on par with the city schools.
They will act as mentors who will observe the classes there and give their valuable guidance and feedback.
The schedule for visiting these schools by the teachers will be framed tentatively before 30th October 2014 . The meeting ended with the teachers promising to serve the Chinmaya family.
25th Annual Sports Meet 201425th Annual Sports Meet 2014The 25th Annual Sports Meet of Chinmaya Vidyalaya, Anna Nagar was a grand function held at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Chennai. The programme commenced with an invocation song by the school choir. The Correspondent welcomed the august gathering and introduced the Chief Guest took the Salute . The Olympic torch was passed on by the students and finally the Olympic flame was lit. The students took the oath to play in a fair and sportive spirit after the Chief Guest declared the 25th Annual Sports Meet open. The Chief Guest spoke about physical fitness and agility in his speech. The P.T Master Mr.Arumugasamy listed the various achievements of the school for the year 2013 - 2014.
Then there was a mass drill performed by 4th & 5th Grade students. The Chief Guest distributed the prizes for the various events.
There was long jumps , high jumps, short put , running races 200m, 400m, 1500m for various categories.
There were exciting events for the teachers, Masters, Non-teaching staffs, office boys, service staffs, parents and alumni's. In the valedictory function , the Chief Guest was welcomed with a memento. After the speeches, there was a mass drill performed by students of 9th grade. The yoga display was exemplary and literally stole the show. There was a lotus and pyramid formation. Mrs.V.D.Krishnaveni (Alumni of our Vidyalaya) and Shri Sunny the Chief Guest of the evening distributed the prizes to the students. The programme concluded with the National anthem.

Culturals : UTHISHTA BHARATHA UTHKRUSHTO BHAVA (India - Rise and Shine) The programme gave an interesting insight into the history and culture of ancient India(i.e) the 5000 year old Harappan Civilization, the birth of Algebra , Trigonometry and calculus by famous Mathematician Baskaracharya, Budhayana and Aryabatta . The Drama in tamil narrated the story of Baskaracharya and his accurate predictions in astrology. A the play in English portrayed the Charismatic chanakya alies Vishnugupta, the Kingmaker and Minister of Chandragupta Maurya and also the author of Arthasastra a treatise on the working of the Government. The Sanskrit Drama highlighted the roles played by all the carnatic musical instruments of India with special emphasis on the Mridangam. The Hindi Drama depicted Patanjali Yoga The Thandav Dance of Lord Shiva was also enacted on the stage. The final was a dance from various states of India to the accompaniment of the TITI song.

Swami Mitrananda , the Resident Acharya of Chinmaya Mission, Chennai has started the "Shravana Sadana"( A series of talks) - the continuous study of Geeta from 1st chapter to 18th chapter - One chapter A month. The 2nd chapter was conducted at Chinmaya Vidyalaya , belly Area, Anna Nagar from 05.11.2013 to 09.11.2013 . The invocation song on Lord Krishna was sung by the famous vocalist Shri Krishamurthy. The Geetha Gyana Yagna was attended by a huge crowd of devotees on all the five days.

The Chief Guest was Shri.R.Suryakumar the Correspondent , CVA. The National Tricolour was unfurled by the Chief Guest . The March Past by the senior students also included the NCC and the Road Safety Patrol students. Shri.R.Suryakumar gave a short inspiring speech and appealed to the students to cherish the values and ideals of our freedom struggle. There was a patriotic song sung by the school choir which was appreciated by the audience. there was a speech in English which was given by a student of 11the grade about the significance of Republic Day in India.
Report on Pongal CelebrationsReport on Pongal CelebrationsPongal Celebrations were celebrated in our Vidyalaya on 09.01.2014. Students were dressed in traditional dresses. There was a folk dance based on 3 day Pongal celebrations in Tamil Nadu, a Traditional villupattu song based on the rural practices of South India and also the song extolled the qualities of the Sun God to whom prayers were offered on Pongal Day. The song also had a strong message to offer on the conservation of the environment.
Report on Seva for Blind People at Chinmaya Vidyalaya, Anna NagarReport on Seva for Blind People at Chinmaya Vidyalaya, Anna NagarIt was yet another opportunity for the students of Chinmaya Vidyalaya, Anna Nagar to serve the society. The students and staffs of the Vidyalaya readily volunteered to be a part and parcel of the two mega events organized by Gnanadharshan Seva Foundation for the Disabled. Chinmaya Vidyalaya, Anna Nagar was the Venue for a Project Exhibition organized by the inmates of the Gnanadharshan Seva Foundation on 3rd December and a Written Quiz Examination for the visually challenged people on 21st December 2013. Snacks and Lunch was sponsored by the Seva Sangam of the Vidyalaya. The Written Quiz was a examination to prepare the candidates for the competitive examinations. The students of the Seva Sangam were the scribes for the written quiz examination. The prizes were sponsored by the students of Seva Sangam of the Vidyalaya. The students shouldered responsibility along with their teachers in making all the necessary arrangements. The compassion and the sense of responsibility shown by them were appreciated both by the candidates and the Gnanadharshan Foundation. At the end of the day the students experienced gratification and a sense of contentment for having helped the less fortunate people of the society.

Gnanadharshan Seva Foundation for the disabled conducted an exhibition in Chinmaya Vidyalaya by the visually challenged women . Gnanadharsan serves the needs of visually challenged women with focus on education. The students of Chinmaya Vidyalaya , Anna Nagar actively came forward to be the part of their endeavour and helped generously by which the quality of their life could be improved.As part of commemoration of World Disabled Day and New Year 2014. Gnanadarshan Seva Foundation will organize a general knowledge quiz competition on 20.12.2013 , Saturday , 09.a.m to 4p.m at Chinmaya Vidyalaya, Anna Nagar.
